Osinbajo preside over FEC meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa , Abuja.
The FEC meeting which commenced at 10:55 am had in attendance Ministers of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and Science and Technology, Mr . Ogonnaya Onu.
Others were Ministers of Trade and Investment, Mr . Okechukwu Enelemah; Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh ; Women Affairs, Jummai Alhassan and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khadija Abba-Ibrahim;
The Minister of Finance , Mrs. Kemi Adeosun; and the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, among other ministers were also in attendance .
Also in attendance were other cabinet members, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Mr . Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President Mallam Abba Kyari , among others .

Pakistan to strike LNG deal with Nigeria, Algeria

Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Pakistan government is set to ink a Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG) deal with Nigeria and Algeria, SweetcrudeReports has learned.
According to a Pakistani newspaper, The Tribune Express, the deal is a multi-billion dollar one with state company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
Pakistan currently imports 4.5 million tons of LNG per annum and the volume will increase to 9 million tons before the end of this year.
The projection shows that Pakistan will need 20 million tons of LNG annually within three years and 30 million tons in five years.
According to the newspaper, the deal is at the presentation stage.
The Pakistani government will have to make a formal presentation to its cabinet for ratification.
Algeria’s gas output in 2016 stood at 132.2 billion cubic meters, up from 128.3bcm in 2015.
The country that is currently competing with LNG production by the US and others, is boosting output in an attempt to defend its market share.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa promises to pay compensation for land grabs and clean up Zimbabwe’s ‘poisoned politics’ as he is sworn in

New Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has vowed he will work to improve the economy to reduce unemployment and return the country to prosperity.

"Our economic policy will be directed for job, job, job creation," Mr Mnangagwa said to cheers from the crowd of 60,000. Zimbabwe is currently plagued with an unemployment rate estimated to be 80 per cent.

"We must work together. You, me, all of us who make up this nation," he said. He urged the millions of Zimbabweans who have left the country to return to help rebuild the economy.

"I must hit the ground running," said Mr Mnangagwa, emphasizing that Zimbabwe's economic problems must be addressed immediately.

Zimbabwe's land redistribution which saw land seized from white farmers and given to black Zimbabweans will not be reversed, he said.

"The rest of the world must understand that our land reform policies were inevitable. The principle of nationalization of our land cannot be challenged or reversed," he said. However, Mr Mnangagwa said his incoming government will be "committed to compensating farmers from whom land was taken." He said a land commission would be formed to make sure that properties are farmed productively.

"All foreign investment will be safe in Zimbabwe," said Mr Mnangagwa, addressing fears following moves by former leader Robert Mugabe to nationalise the country's lucrative resources such as diamonds, platinum, gold and chrome. Mr Mnangagwa also said he will tackle corruption that has grown in Zimbabwe.

He said elections will be held next year and said he will work to change Zimbabwe's political climate which he characterised as "poisonous, rancorous and polarized."

Mr Mnangagwa opened his speech by praising outgoing president Robert Mugabe, who resigned on Tuesday, for his role in ending white-minority ruled Rhodesia. Mr Mugabe should be "lauded and celebrated" for his historic role, he said.

Davido finally speaks on crew member, Tagbo’s death

Davido has now responded to the allegations that he was responsible for his crew member’s death.

Former actress, Caroline Danjuma, had alleged that a young man named Tagbo in company of Davido and his crew died mysteriously Monday night.

She said the deceased was taken to a General Hospital in Lagos in Davido’s car and was abandoned there.

But Davido on his snapchat page denied involvement in Tagbo’s death while sending condolences to his family.

According to him, he is being framed for always treating everyone like a brother.

The OBO crooner in the post wrote: ”RIP Tagbo, God knows the truth! “People are just wicked. This what I get for treating everyone like my brother.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of my friend, Tagbo. First and foremost, my sincere condolences and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

“I’ve been in this position before multiple times and also of recent.

“But it is also disappointing that false information and complete lies have been put out there, using my name as usual. Out of total respect for Tagbo and his family, I will not discuss this matter further for now.

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates birth of fourth child Alana Martina

Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez has given birth to their first child, a baby girl called Alana Martina. 

The Real Madrid forward announced the news on Instagram with a picture of the happy couple and the new arrival, as well as Ronaldo's son Cristiano Jr. 

Alana Martina is Ronaldo's fourth child, and arrived nine days earlier than anticipated at a Madrid hospital near Ronaldo's home.
